When I imagined becoming a mum, I always pictured the little things — school plays, after-school sports, helping with homework. Being there for the moments, not just hearing about them afterwards.

But I didn’t rush into family life. I spent my twenties doing things on my terms, working, saving, travelling and repeating the cycle because I loved the freedom of it.

Then my thirties began with two big changes at once: starting a new career I genuinely love, and starting a family.

And suddenly my perspective shifted.

I still love my job and I know I have so much more to learn and achieve in it. But the thought of watching my daughter grow up from the sidelines, hearing about her stories rather than being part of them? It just didn’t sit right with me. I didn’t want to walk away from my career. I just didn’t want my time, income and choices to be completely limited by it either.

So I started building an online business alongside my job — something that allows me to work differently, create more flexibility, and have more say over how our family life actually looks.

Because loving your career shouldn’t mean missing the moments that matter most.
